Festival Trademarks

Sinulog Festival was over yesterday and thus, I'm sharing some of the festival trademarks that never fade until to this day. Let's start with the get-up of the people to feel the festival and because of the scorching heat from the sun you need to wear of course a protection and that is the "salakot" or the native hat but because of our trend today the hat was made fashionable and it was also one of the best props of the Festival dancers.

 

 

Next, is the "Henna Tattoo"  yes! you read it right it's a henna tattoo which means the application of Henna as a temporary form of skin decoration. Last year, I did not engaged to this gimik in festival because I found it a  hilarious act to do but this time to be different from last year I try it but the good thing is that my boyfriend is the one who tattooed me but we are not using henna we used another medium of art and thanks to my boyfriend's incredible talent he made it just right for the festival.

 

 

 

 

 After the get-up we moved on to the street dancing and the gigantic puppeteers, colorful floats, dancers in their grandiose outfits, foreigners and famous actors and actresses as well as politicians flock the street of Cebu City this is also a festival trademark.

There were just few of the offerings of festival. 

And after the street dancing me and my boyfriend headed to the church to celebrate it with the patron of the city and because it was flooded with people it's really difficult to get inside. At night, we were not able to get inside the church so we just watched the 30 minutes fireworks display at the outside and after the mass we were lucky enough to find a space where we could dance the "sinulog" dance together with other devotees. We also wrote our prayers in a piece of paper and tied it in a red balloon and let it go, it's also one of the trademarks of the festival.

  Because of those activities at the first day of festival we decided to eat at Ice Castle although it was raining and guess what we ordered halo-halo and shake, funny of us though we already shivering because of the weather that time. On the second day we decided to have a lunch at Mang Inasal because it's the nearest resto at the event area.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Wow! with all those tiring activities we did once more in this year Sinulog it's really wonderful to celebrate it with each other and having a quality time to know each other deeper emotions. We really had a great time and we are looking for many more festivals to come and celebrating it together.
