444th Celebration of Sinulog Festival

The Sinulog Festival, the country's grandest, most colorful and most anticipated festival is coming to paint the town red once again. Expect that this year festival is even grander. I experienced first this spectacular festival last year and I just can't compare it to other festival here in the Philippines. So, I'm giving you a citation about the beginning of this grandiose festival in the Queen city of the South. It is held each year on the third Sunday of January to honor the Sto.Nino, or the child Jesus, who used to be the patron saint of the whole province. Cebu city is the foothold of Christianity in the Philippines and this year is the 444th foundation of our religion. The festival features some of the country's most colorful displays of ceremony and pageantry: participants clothe in bright-colored costumes dance to the rhythm of drums and native gongs. Recently, the events commercialized as a tourist attraction, so people around the world flock the city to witness and join the festival. Sinulog comes from the Cebuano adverb "sulog" which is "like water current movement," which proficiently describes the forward-backward movement of the sinulog dance.Me and my boyfriend really enjoyed dancing this beat and we felt great while praying through dancing.

This is the entry of the last year big winner of the Photography contest.

OMG! i had enough of the crowd that time.

I also had enough of actresses, actors and even politicians public appearances, imagined my surprise when they were walking at the streets as if they were not popular.

My boyfriend and I enjoyed this festival eventhough  we had to walk a distance just to get in a certain place because no vehicles were running at that time because of so much crowd. But still the happiness we've felt and the joyed we had shared with others praising the Sto.Nino is one of a kind experince that will always be in our hearts. So, I'm looking forward for the upcoming Sunday of the week for the grand parade.
Viva Pit Senyor!
